Head of Violence Prevention receives high level safeguarding accreditation

Jules Bottazzi, Head of the Thames Valley Violence Prevention Partnership and part of the senior leadership team at the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner has received the Public Protection & Safeguarding Leadership Programme accreditation.

The Public Protection & Safeguarding Leadership Programme is the highest level of training and accreditation available to police officers and staff working in Public Protection and is developed and accredited by the College of Policing. It is re-accredited annually.

Senior roles in Public Protection and Safeguarding are among the most demanding in policing. These are roles managing extraordinary levels of vulnerability and risk, much of which is hidden, so senior leaders working in this area rely on multi-agency, co-ordinated work to deliver responsibilities.

Jules’ portfolio dates from her time as Head of Strategic Vulnerability at Essex Police. She is the first member of Essex Police – officer or staff – to be PPSLP accredited and she received her award from the Chief Constable of Essex Police, BJ Harrington, at a ceremony in Braxted Park, Essex, yesterday (20 May).

On receiving her award, Jules said:

“I’m delighted to take this accreditation back to the Thames Valley. Here at the Violence Prevention Partnership, we are dedicated to safeguarding vulnerable people and breaking the cycle of violence. Some of my colleagues at Thames Valley Police have also achieved this accreditation, and I’m delighted that the force and the OPCC can therefore demonstrate wraparound awareness, leadership and a high level of competence in safeguarding. I’m also proud to be the first person at Essex Police to have received this accreditation.”

While at Essex Police, Jules was the strategic lead for missing persons, led a Mental Health prevention team, a Victims Services team and an Operational Development team overseeing strategic direction for all types of vulnerability.
