Our core function is to support and coordinate the local response to serious violence. We work to embed public health approaches which tackle the root causes of violence through earlier interventions and prevention.
We work with nine separate local partnerships which are consistent with the upper-tier local authority boundaries, covering all of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
Local partnerships are often led by the local authority through the pre-existing Community Safety Partnerships. These include representation from the Local Police Area and other key partners working together to make safer communities.
The Serious Violence Duty places responsibilities upon these local partnerships, including the development of a local strategy to respond to serious violence in their area.
Over 2025/2026, the nine local systems will develop a local Prevention Partnership through which they will identify and work to support cohorts of young people at risk of being drawn into crime and violence.
